Ötztal Nature Park

Awe-inspiring glaciers, colorful larch forests and idyllic mountain lakes — these are just a few of the many impressions that we all associate with the Ötztal: at the same time it is a landscape worth protecting that attracts myriad visitors from around the globe.

As Austria’s third largest nature preserve, the ÖTZTAL NATURE PARK covers an area of more than 510 square kilometers – there is no other protected area which has a larger glacier-covered surface (about 18%) in all of Austria.

Among the characteristics are large glacier fields, natural history studies and research on high Alpine archeology.

Theme trails focusing on high Alpine archeology, glaciology or fauna and flora in the stone pine forest are freely available to all nature park “explorers” – take a closer look at it by clicking on www.naturpark-oetztal.at.
